  • 1 cup gram flour/kadle hitch
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp celery
  • salt as per taste
  • ½ cup water (or as required)
  • ½ onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped)
  • ½ tomato (finely chopped)
  • 1 inch ginger (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chilli (finely chopped)
  • 5 tsp oil (for frying)

Instruction

  • Firstly, take 1 cup of gram flour in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add ¼ tsp turmeric, ¼ tsp celery, and salt as per taste.
  • Also, add ½ cup water or a little more water.
  • Mix with the help of a whisk to make a smooth batter.
  • Now let the batter rest for 30 minutes or more so that the gram flour can absorb water and become light.
  • also, add ½ onion, ½ tomato, 2 tbsp coriander leaves, 1-inch ginger, and 1 green chili.
  • Mix well with the help of a ladle and get a batter of a runny consistency.
  • further, drop a ladle of batter on the hot tawa and spread gently.
  • Drizzle a teaspoon of oil over the chilla.
  • Let it cook on medium flame.
  • Now turn the chilla and cook it from both sides.
  • finally, fold the besan chilla and serve it with green chutney.

Notes:

  • firstly, adjust the consistency of the batter depending on the thickness of the chilla you require.
  • Make sure to rest the gram flour batter for at least 30 minutes, otherwise it may cause gastric problems.

  • finally, cook besan chilla until it turns golden brown on both sides.
